Basic 1 & 2     LEARN TO SKATE - Beginners (Snow Plow Sam)

Basic Skills 1 and 2 classes are designed to help first-time skaters develop preliminary coordination and strength necessary to maneuver on the ice. Although there is no minimum age for enrollment, skaters must be mature enough to be on the ice without a parent. Helmets (such as a bike helmet) are mandatory for skaters in these classes. Parents must tie skates if skaters cannot. Plan on being at the rink 15 minutes before class to put skates on.

Basic 3 – 8

The “Basic Skills” are the building blocks of the sport. These levels introduce the fundamental moves: forward skating, backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, 3-turns, mohawks, waltz jumps, half-jumps and two-foot spins. Upon mastery of the Basic 1-8 levels, skaters will have knowledge of the sport and skills sufficient to advance to more specialized skating.

Freestyle 1-6

Skaters are excited to graduate from the Basics to the Free Skate levels. Free Skate levels include learning moves in the field, spins, jumps and footwork. The Free Skate levels give skaters a strong foundation on which to build skills. Mastery of these levels prepares a skater to move into Advanced Figure Skating and Synchronized Team Skating.
